EDWARD BARNES is an award-winning composer, lyricist and producer, currently on the faculty of The Juilliard School. Edward’s work has been seen and heard around the world in productions on and off-Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Mark Taper Forum (L.A.), Teatro Paseo La Plaza (Buenos Aires), Houston Grand Opera, Children’s Theater Company of Minneapolis, Welsh National Opera (UK), Opera Company of the Philippines, San Francisco Mime Troupe, and American Repertory Theater (Boston), as well as shows for SiriusXM radio, recordings for the Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight, Naxos and Parma labels, and more. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he is the winner of Guggenheim and NEA Fellowships, and the Stephen Sondheim Award for “the creation of innovative musical theater”. He’s been an artist in residence at the Ucross Foundation (USA), Instituto Sacatar (Brazil) and Fundación Valparaíso (Spain), given lectures and classes at many colleges and universities including University of Minnesota, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, University of Toronto, University of Richmond, and Hamline University, and has served as Executive Director of Gotham Chamber Opera, Producing Director of MasterVoices, and Managing Director of American Lyric Theater.
